| Further Investment in India by Japan’s TOTO |

Local media reports that the major Japanese sanitaryware and bathroom fittings leader TOTO Ltd is going to set up six showrooms across India during this fiscal year. Three will be set up in the eastern region in association with Multiwyn Lifestyle Pvt Ltd. TOTO has seven showrooms in India already.
Last year, the sanitaryware and bathroom fittings market in India was worth about Rs 800 crore, out of which TOTO contributed Rs 100 crore, said Rajnish Nandan, regional manager (north & east). The market is growing at about 35% year-on-year and the company is targeting a growth of 50% this fiscal, he said at a press conference held to inaugurate the company's first showroom in Kolkata and the eastern region. Multiwyn will distribute TOTO's products from eastern region showrooms.
"We are opening the other two showrooms in Orissa and Guwahati," he said. TOTO has 26 factories the around the world.
On chances of setting up a factory in India , a plan which has previously been mooted, Sales Director Hiromoto Harano said the company was conducting a feasibility study to assess when and where the factory should be set up. |
