14 June 2008
The Mumbai tile manufacturer Nitco Tiles will open around 200 outlets across India in the next two years, according to CEO Kalyan Paul. The outlets will be set up on an area of 3,000 sq ft and the company apparently intends spending around Rs 1,380 per sq ft while the dealer would spend Rs 1,250 per sq ft.

Titled 'Le Studio Express', the outlets will start functioning during the next two years, the company's General Manager A Ramakrish told the media. "Out of the 200 outlets, the company has identified 100 outlets in the country and the construction work for some of the showrooms has already commenced," he said.

Nitco Tiles, which holds a market share of 11% in the ceramic tiles category, has set a target of 50% growth this year. "Last year we achieved a turnover of Rs 658 crore and this year we are planning to achieve 50% growth," said Mr Ramakrish.

On an all-India basis, the State of Tamil Nadu alone contributes 30% of the company’s turnover.

On the subject of the new showroom, Mr Ramakrish said customers would not only get a chance to "feel the experience" at Le Studio but would also get to choose from a variety of ceramic and vitrified tiles, under one roof. For the new shoowroom, the company had invested a sum of Rs 75 lakh, he said.
